The Watcher’s Trail
The Sentier du Guetteur is an easy way to discover the region, relatively up and down. With a distance of 4.3 km, this trail can be walked in less than 90 minutes in a friendly atmosphere. Its starting point is the tourist information point of La Franqui , but the route can just as well start by the lighthouse of Leucate plage . Along the way, you will have an elevation gain of 50 meters, with sunlight on the clear sides of the rock of the cliff. You will be able to appreciate the various inaccessible coves nestled at the foot of the cliff, as well as the Mediterranean.
The Shepherd’s Trail
The route on the Sentier du Guetteur is very exciting and leads to another path at Cap des frères. This is the shepherd’s path, with a total length of 7 km. With a drop of 20 meters, it can be covered in 2.5 hours one way. The path forms a loop that allows you to fully understand the pastoral vocation of the plateau and to reach a point of view on the coast. The shepherd’s path offers a view of the cliff and the large enclosures formerly intended for sheep. You can also admire the Cap des frères, which is one of the landmarks used by birds during their migration. The sea, the lagoon and the mountains will also enhance your trip, following a path that goes down to the village.
