Hikes from Leucate
Hiking is a great way to explore nature and get some exercise. From our campsite in Leucate , there are many outdoor activities and above all many hikes to do depending on the time of year and your level of experience. A small town in the heart of the Aude department , on the shores of the Mediterranean, Leucate has many trails, some of which are located on the heights of the maritime cliffs, making your walk more enjoyable.
The Watcher trail in Leucate
This path is a little less than 10 km long and is part of the heritage circuit of the Regional Park of Narbonnaise in the Mediterranean. The watchtower path offers an incredible panorama of the cliffs of Leucate . Walkers will particularly appreciate the breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and the various beaches of the seaside resort such as Les Coussoules, La Franqui , La Plagette , etc. If the natural beauty of the landscapes is striking, the Sentier du Guetteur is dotted with various ruins and several buildings built in the 18th century under Louis XIV, which also makes it an interesting historical walk.
The Shepherd’s trail in Leucate
This hiking circuit located in the town of Leucate is about 7 kilometers long and represents a little less than 3 hours of walking. Accessible to all levels of hikers and very well marked, the Berger trail alternates between olive groves, peach trees, breathtaking views of the vineyards and almond trees, enough to enjoy the scents while following the Leucatoise coast.
The Fisherman’s Trail in Leucate
Allow approximately 2 hours to cover the fisherman’s trail . With a slight difference in altitude, this hike is ideal for families and offers beautiful views of the Leucate ponds. What’s more, this loop will guide you to the foot of the castle of Leucate, enough to soak up the local culture while enjoying the Aude sun.
Leucate the lighthouse
Magnificent hike to do on the heights of Leucate, and without great difficulty, which makes it a pleasant family walk. Along the cliffs and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, this path certainly offers one of the most beautiful panoramas in the region. The walk begins at the foot of the Leucate lighthouse and promises you some striking landscapes. However, bring good shoes, because the path is very rocky.
